About the Society

Coalville Heritage Society was formed by an amalgamation of the Coalville Historical Society and Coalville 150 Group in 2006.

From October to April each year a monthly general meeting is held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church coffee lounge on Ashby Road in Coalville, where each month a talk and/or presentation is given by a guest speaker. This scope of these talks is quite broad with history and heritage as an underlying theme. Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of the month starting at 7.30pm.

A quarterly newsletter is issued to all members and includes articles of interest on the history and heritage of the area, a regular feature is also "Covill Tork" which has examples of the Coalville and district dialect, see the separate Covill Tork page on this website.

The Coalville 150 Group photo archive has also been brought under the wing of the Heritage Society and is administered by Denis Baker, Colin Clamp and Steve Duckworth.
Enquiries regarding the archive should be directed to the e-mail address at the bottom of the page.
